Anti Aging Diet

Can Calorie Restriction Really Keep You From
Aging?
The Anti Aging Diet says
that if you restrict your calorie intake you can slow down the
aging process. I am not sure how this would work; as I was
always under the impression it was what you ate, not how
much.
From what the Anti
Aging Diet claims, those who restrict the number of
calories are extending the length of their lifespan.
Most of these results are
from tests performed on animals. I am not sure that the results
would be the same on humans. I decided to look further into the
idea of calorie restriction as a way to longevity.
When you are going to
begin the Anti Aging
Diet, you will want to start very
slow. There is no jumping into this diet plan. The reason
behind this is that this diet is life long, not a quick fix to
lose 10 pounds in 4 days.
What you are looking for
is about a pound a week. More than two pounds in a week is not
recommended and you really need to be careful. Eventually you
will end up eating only 1700-1800 per day, depending on your
age, sex, activity level, and current weight.
To begin you will want to
cut back 100 or so calories per week to adjust to the new plan.
Once on the right calorie amount that is right for you, you
should begin to see some weight loss. With only restricting
your diet to 1700-1800 calories, you will eventually stop
losing weight and just maintain.
The types of foods to
focus on are foods that are high in antioxidants. Antioxidants
help eliminate free radicals and other potentially damaging
molecules from our bodies. This keeps the body from prematurely
aging.
The Anti Aging Diet allows us
to continuously take in high amounts of these antioxidant rich
foods and keeps us looking and feeling young. Other types of
foods are those rich in anti-inflammatory properties. As we age
our cells are prone to inflammation, which can ultimately lead
to many diseases.
The reason they call this
diet a calorie restriction is that all these foods are low in
calories. Most are fish and vegetables. Therefore, being on
this diet would also be similar to being on a low carbohydrate
or high lean protein and fiber diet.
While I am not sure if
one can thwart off aging by diet alone, the Anti Aging Diet is
a healthy way to live. Eating low fat, low refined sugar and
processed foods, and lean meats is always a great way to keep
trim and stay healthy. I would completely recommend this diet
as a way of life for anyone trying to eat better over
all.
The diet is very easy to
follow and the actual calorie restriction is nothing like many
other more formal low calorie diets that leave you starving.
This is a great diet to live by. The fact that it can delay the
aging process or that it claims to, is just an added
bonus.
