The Cheaters Diet

How to lose weight by taking weekends
off
The Cheaters
Diet review. Is it really possible to lose weight by only
dieting during the week? That’s what I asked myself when I came
across this book. I had heard people talk about it, but I had
never attempted it. My curiosity got the best of me, and I
decided I was going to try it.
I didn’t have
much to lose, so I figured if the Cheaters Diet didn’t work,
there was no big loss. It was also just a book and not an
expensive weight loss program. The idea behind the concept is
that by only eating low calorie meals during the week, you keep
your metabolism in top gear for the weekends when it will work
harder to burn those extra calories.
I have to
admit that I wasn’t convinced I could eat what I wanted on the
weekends and lose weight. I had heard of diets that allowed you
one day a week off, but two didn’t seem to be possible.
Nonetheless I gave the Cheaters Diet the
benefit of the doubt and followed the weekly meal and exercise
programs religiously. There was no need to “cheat” during the
week because I had the whole weekend to eat those forbidden
foods.
The problem I
came across was that because the weekends off was a mandatory
part of the diet, I splurged more than I used to do on weekends
with pizza, high calorie dinners out, sweet desserts and much
more.
I have to
admit that I didn’t gain any weight, but I also didn’t lose any
either. Eating healthier during the week did nothing but
prevent the weight gain I would have experienced had I been
eating normally during the week and splurging on weekends.
Taken in that respect it is a good program because careful
eating during the week allows you to over do it on the weekends
with a detrimental effect.
On the other
hand, you cannot eat all you want on the weekends and lose
weight by simply thinking your metabolism is going to work
harder to burn those extra calories. It won’t happen unless you
are doing something to help it along.
This diet may
work if your weekends consist of a great many aerobic
activities, but the average person spends weekends relaxing or
running errands and cleaning house. Of course, house cleaning
is an aerobic activity, but you’re not spending the entire
weekend doing it in most cases.
It may also
work for you if your weekends consist of many sports and other
strenuous activities. That isn’t the case with me as my
weekends consist more of errands and family time than strenuous
activities beyond housework. It is wonderful, however, as a
tool to prevent gaining weight with weekend eating
binges.
Of course,
this is just how it happened for me—you may experience
something different. The Cheaters Diet book was not a complete
waste of money, but it didn’t do what it claimed to do, at
least for me. Your case may be different, especially if you
have more weight to lose than I do but keep those factors in
mind.
