Choosing a Good Skin Care System
Is it really that important?
Some women
are very meticulous about skin care while others don’t see the
importance of doing more than cleansing their faces and
removing make up before going to bed. One of the thoughts
behind the lack of desire to invest in a good skin care system
is that our grandmothers did nothing more than a cleanse with
Ponds or a similar product, but you also have to look at the
changes that we have faced since that time. The pollution in
the air and the sun both take a toll on our skin. What our
grandparents did to keep their skin healthy is no longer
enough.
Purpose of a Skin Care
System
If you want
to prevent signs of premature aging in your face, the three
most important things are eating healthy, protecting your skin
from the sun, and using a good skin care
system. Each person has a preference in the manufacturer, but
the important thing is for the skin care system you choose to
include a good cleanser, exfoliant, toner, and moisturizer.
Each morning and night you need to apply all of your products
except the exfoliant which is used only two to three times
weekly. If you are consistent in the care of your face, signs
of aging will not appear when you are still young.
Choosing the Right Skin Care
System
No matter
which manufacturer you choose, you need to make sure you choose
the skin care system that is right for your skin type. You will
usually find a skin care system for dry, oily, and normal skin
though sometimes you may also find sensitive skin. Some skin
care products also include products for those who have
troublesome acne or other types of skin flaws.
One of the
most important things to watch is that you choose the right
product for your skin. Very few people have dry or oily
skin—most have combination skin, which makes it difficult to
choose the right products for your skin. Quite often products
for combination skin are only available for the high end
manufacturers such Mary Kay and Artistry. You may
pay more money for the products, but you will be doing what is
best for your skin type.
Using
Your Skin Care System
In order to
obtain the best results, you must follow the manufacturer’s
recommendations exactly. Some products in your system are for
daily use while others (exfoliant for example) only need to be
used a few times a week. If you are in the sun a frequently,
you may also choose a skin care system with an SPF of at least
15. According to dermatologists, anything less than that is not
even a sun block and will not protect your skin from the rays
of the sun.
When
You Should Begin Using a Skin Care System
Although many
people think it is unnecessary to worry immensely about skin
care until you are at least in your mid-20s, the truth is that
the sooner you begin taking care of your skin, the longer it
will be until it shows signs of age. The best time to begin
using a skin care system is during your teens. Not only is that
when you suffer the most from acne, it is also the time when
you are spending more time in the sun and thus causing the most
damage to your skin.
It may take
you a little while to find the skin products that are right for
your skin, but once you find one that works for you, stay with
it. Do not make a habit of changing products due to cost or
because a new product is available and you want to “try” it.
Each person’s skin is different, so once you find the right
product, use it religiously in order to allow your skin to
continue looking young and vibrant.
