Lose Weight And Maintain Your Blood Pressure At
The Same Time
I discovered the Dash
diet when I was looking for a new diet to control my high blood
pressure and lose weight at the same time. The DASH diet was
created to help those just like me. The main goal of this diet
is to lower and prevent high blood pressure as well as to lose
the weight you desire.
This is a low sodium diet
that enables you to eat right and stay healthy. The Dash diet
offers two levels, 2400 mg or 1500 mg of sodium daily intake,
depending on what your needs are. I just asked my doctor which
one would be best for me.
After being on the diet
for only two weeks I noticed a huge difference. I felt so much
better physically, and I had lost weight. The daily eating plan
consists of a lot of fruit, vegetables, whole grains, and other
heart healthy foods that are low in salts.
The Dash diet is more of
a life changing diet, as it is all about eating right. You do
not have to purchase special foods or follow any hard to make
recipes, which makes this diet much more cost effective. This
diet is based on the main food groups and allows so many
servings a day from each group. How many servings you are
allowed in a given day are decided by how many calories you
have been instructed to eat, or goals you have set for
yourself.
You or your doctor may
set the daily calorie intake by your age and daily activity
level, or just by how much you weigh and what your blood
pressure is. How many calories you need will completely depend
on how much activity you get each day.
The less active you are,
the fewer calories you require, so the less you will need to
eat. If you want to eat more then you will have to be more
active to counter act the amount of calories to not
gain.
What I really loved about
the Dash diet
is that it offers a calorie guideline that is based on how
active I am and my age. This allows me to modify my diet as I
need or want to, as I increase my activity level.
There is also an eating
plan that tells me each food group, servings per day, serving
size, and even gives you examples of what foods are in those
groups and what each food offers.
This diet system makes it
really easy to calorie count and stay healthy. I have found
that I am fully able to not only maintain a healthy blood
pressure, but also a healthy weight as well.
I really like the DASH
Diet, but anyone who is considering it needs to know this is a
life changing diet. It is not something you can just start,
lose a few pounds, and then return to your previous diet. It is
meant for those who not only want to maintain a healthy weight,
but who also need to watch and control their blood
pressure.
This is not a diet of
convenience, but a major change in lifestyle for a better life.
If a low sodium diet is what you have been looking for, this
could really be the diet for you. I have never been healthier
than I am now.
