While looking for the right diet for me, I found the F Plan Diet. At first I thought this might be a joke, as I have never really heard of a high fiber diet for weight loss before. Most diets tell you to stay away from carbohydrates, even the good ones, let alone build a diet of them. As I read a bit more about the F Plan Diet plan, it seemed to make a bit more sense. The worst thing that could happen was that I would be more regular. I really could not imagine being fully satisfied using this regime, but I figured it might be worth a try. The idea behind the F Plan Diet is that you are to eat high fiber foods or roughage such as, vegetables that are hard to digest, bran cereals and breads, and fruits. You would only consume approximately 850 to 1500 calories per day. Looking at the carbohydrate load you would be taking on, it is not the food that helps you lose weight, it is the lack of calories you will be ingesting that will cause you weight loss. It is said that you will eat less, as these foods make you feel fuller longer. I do not ever think I have felt full from this type of diet. In fact, I usually eat more of these types of foods. Sticking to a maximum calorie count of 1500 may be much more difficult than one thinks. I did notice a significant amount of weight loss in the beginning, but it would not last long when I introduced new foods into my diet again. With the F Plan Diet I found I had to drink tons of water. Not only to keep me full, but also to counteract the gas that eating all those foods caused. High fiber foods tend to cause gas and bloating for many people, so beware of this side effect if you choose to try this plan. The good thing about this diet is that it is very good for your heart and digestive tract. Low in sodium and fat, I have found that my body feels healthier and my cholesterol has lowered. I also noticed that I am more regular and constipation is not an issue at all. So, even though I am no longer following this diet, I have kept some high fiber foods in my diet for these benefits. Over all I have to say that the F Plan Diet was not for me. I found I was never satisfied and felt too restricted. The gaseous side effects were too much for me to handle. The bloating and discomfort was not worth the slight weight loss. I lost about 10 pounds and then turned to a different diet and gained right back. This diet and its restrictive intake would have to be done forever to maintain the rapid weight loss. I recommend finding a different diet if you want a long weight loss effect.
