Fat Flush Diet

Good or bad choice to make?
Some
co-workers introduced me to the Fat Flush Diet plan. They had
apparently bought the book and followed the weight loss diet
program with success. I read the book first and though I wasn’t
sure I could handle the restrictions, I decided to try
it.
The first
thing I found rather unappealing was the use of cran-water. I
am not a fan of cranberry juice at all, so I had to eliminate
that right away and substitute plain tap or bottled
water.
The first
phase of the Fat Flush Diet was very difficult and lacked
flavour since you couldn’t have margarine, sugar, oils or fats
except flaxseed oil, grains, bread, cereal, starch vegetables,
or dairy products.
There was
even a limited list of herbs and spices for flavouring. I have
to admit that during this phase I had no problem with the
1100-1200 calories because the food lacked in flavour and
variety.
Into Phase 2
of the Fat Flush Diet, the calorie intake is increased but not
the variety of foods. I lost some weight but not as much as I
feel I should have based upon the food I was eating. I also
could not drink the hot water with lemon that is part of the
diet. Perhaps the fact that I was unable to eat some of the
foods on the list caused my lack of success, but I simply
cannot eat food that has no flavour.
My family was
complaining about the lack of flavour because I did not have
time to make two separate meals. It took me about two months to
lose fifteen pounds, and that was the point when I decided it
wasn’t worth it.
To say the
Fat Flush Diet
didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else.
I can only give you my own personal experiences, and it was
much too restrictive for my lifestyle. In fact, there were
several occasions when I was on business trips that I had to
deviate from what I was supposed to eat.
You can't
exactly go to a restaurant and ask them to serve food without
butter and only use certain herbs and spices. Some diets are
not meant for people who travel from home or eat in
restaurants, and this happens to be one of them.
Another
problem I had with this diet is the fact that you have to cook
your food from scratch and use fresh fruits and vegetables.
Though that may be fine for people who don’t work outside of
the home, it was very difficult for me with a husband and two
teenagers who re involved in a variety of events.
Add that to a
full-time job, and you can see why I don’t have time to cook
every night—I had to get into the habit of doing all my cooking
on the weekends in order to stay on the Fat Flush Diet
program.
I also did
not see where taking the fat out of my diet helped me lose any
more weight than I would have with the same number of calories
and eating a healthy meal that had some flavour to
it.
