The French Women Dont Get Fat diet is based on a book by Mirelle Guiliano, a French-born woman now living in the United States where obesity is a severe problem.

One review of the book stated that obesity is becoming a problem in France now due to influence from other countries but is still low at ten per cent when compared to the United States at thirty-three per cent.

I decided to try the French Women Dont Get Fat diet not because I need to lose weight but because I have a problem keeping it off. I check my weight once a week, and if I have gained anything, I do whatever is necessary to lose it again.

In my early 20s I was quite overweight and am really obsessed with keeping it off. In fact, I tend to keep my weight about five pounds below the lowest range for my build so that it isn’t obvious if I gain a couple of pounds.

In addition to reading the French Women Dont Get Fat diet book, I signed up for the online diet as well. Although many French today dispute claims in the book because of modern cultural changes, there is no denying that the concepts in the book are realistic. The analogy of the diet is to eat healthy foods in small portions and savour the flavour.

I remember my mother trying to teach me that idea when I first left home and began to have weight problems, and I didn’t believe it would have any impact. I didn’t see what difference it would make if I chewed my food ten times or three times—it was still going to arrive in my digestive tract the same way.

As I began to follow the online program as well as reading the French Women Dont Get Fat diet book, I discovered that the speed at which you consumed food really did make a difference. When I took the time to chew my food and savour the flavour of it, I became full quicker than I did when I rushed through a meal.

I realized that was the concept my mother had been trying to teach me—eat slowly and your brain will tell your stomach you are full sooner. Doing that means you will automatically eat less and either lose weight or remain the same.

After years of struggling to maintain my goal weight, this diet finally helped me realize what I had been doing wrong and helped me make some lifestyle changes that would allow me to maintain a steady weight.

It has now been six months since I discovered the French Women Dont Get Fat diet plan, and I have finally been able to go through each week without gaining two or three pounds. I have had to make changes such as eating out less which is saving money and staying away from fast food restaurants.

When my husband and I do go out, we order healthy items from the menu and never do it when we are in a hurry. We have learned to take turns with the cooking so that we have home cooked healthy meals, so whoever arrives home first is in charge of dinner.

This is an excellent diet program for those looking to lose weight and those looking to prevent gaining weight—it is not really a diet but a way of life.
