What Is A Fruit Diet?
What is a Fruit Diet ? It is a diet used by Fruitarian. A
Fruitarian is a person who is slightly similar to a vegan, but instead of eating vegetables they only eat
fruits.
This type of person only takes the things from a plant that will not hurt the
plant itself, the fruits, seeds, and nuts. The Fruit Diet is a pretty
strict diet and involves a lot of self-discipline and sacrifice.
Although a diet of this type seems like it is lacking quite a bit, you are
still able to get all the basic nutrients that you require to stay alive and thrive well. The Fruit Diet is however difficult to follow for some and can lead to some health issues
if you are on it for too long of an amount of time. You may also want to take some type of supplement if you decide
to try this diet, because you do not really want to lack on any nutrients that you really need to stay as healthy
as possible.
When I first heard about becoming a Fruitarian, I thought it would be a
pretty simple thing. Just eat all the fruits I want and not really worry about eating any meat or anything and I
would be able to get by just fine. This was not the cast though.
I really felt like I was lacking a lot when I was on the diet. No matter how
many fruits I ate, I still felt hungry and found that I craved all the meats and hardy vegetables that I was used
to eating.
I really struggled to maintain the diet and really didn’t want to suffer
through the process. After about 2 weeks of almost nothing except fruit, I was ready to get back to actually being
able to eat something more.
I failed the Fruitarian way of life, but I knew that at least I made an
attempt to try my hardest. Following a Fruit
Diet that is so strict without really having a whole lot of variety in food
choice was just not my thing. I didn’t want to go on living my life thinking about what I was eating constantly and
having to always pass up on the foods I loved.
Instead I decided to keep eating all the fruits I wanted and just ate the
other foods that I liked and didn’t have to worry about whether I was not eating enough or too much. The fruits
helped fill me up when I ate them as a snack or side dish, but as the only food I was eating, they just didn’t do
much for me.
I guess since I really didn’t have the self-discipline it takes to be a
Fruitarian, I can’t say if a diet of this kind would be something to suggest for other people.
I could really see the diet working for some people and maybe not so much for
other people like me that enjoy their meals of steak and potatoes a bit too much. I know there are alternatives to
only eating fruit. Just keeping a lot of fruit in my diet has worked for me, both to keep me healthy and lose some
weight.
I am not unhappy with the decision I made to try the Fruit
Diet out, and I could see other people having a lot of good luck if they were able to maintain a diet of
this type.
