How To Keep Weight Off
Diet smart, keep lost weight off
Losing weight is relatively easy; the
challenging part is keeping it off.
We have all done it. We
go on a strict diet for a few months and work very hard at losing weight until we reach our target weight. What do
we do then?
We celebrate having achieved our goal. How do we
celebrate?
By going out for a meal! We then wonder why we start putting
back some of the weight that was lost. We then blame the diet for failing
us and go back to all the bad eating habits. Does all this sound familiar?
Trying to keep weight off
I, like everyone else have been on various diets. In all cases
the diets worked to a degree and I lost some weight. The problem for me is that once
the desired weight has been lost, I feel that I can now handle eating anything without putting weight back on! I
have the odd chocolate bar, biscuit or piece of cake. Before I know it I am back to my old weight, if not more. I
then start thinking about a new diet.
This seemed like a waste of time, money and effort so I
searched for a solution to this weight gain problem. The answer is fairly
straightforward.
Once you have reached your target weight loss do not do the
following:
but do the following:
-
Keep on with your new dieting regime until it becomes part of your
natural behaviour.
-
Start a gentle exercise routine
-
be aware of your daily caloric intake and your portion sizes. Too much
of anything gets stored as fat- even "healthy" foods.
-
Always be on your guard against giving in to temptation and getting
back into the old bad eating habits.
Weight loss should not be regarded as a once only cure for
being overweight. It should be an on-going natural part of your lifestyle. Eat natural foodstuffs in normal
quantities. With a little care and attention you should be able to keep off the lost weight forever.
