Leptin Diets
Is Regulating Fat Metabolism With Hormones The Key To Weight Loss?

Leptin diets are all the new rage these days. The idea that fat regulating hormones are the key to weight loss is on the forefront to metabolism management.
Once I realized that leptin was a fat tissue-producing hormone that told the brain when I was hungry and when I was full, I realized that could easily be my issue with putting on weight. I have been wondering why I feel the need to eat so soon after already finishing a meal. If my hormone balance were completely off, that would explain it.
Once I understood that leptin also played a role in what the brain tells the thyroid and insulin secreting cells to do, it made sense that this diet could be the key to my weight loss venture.
The first thing I have to do was follow a few rules when starting leptin diets. There are a few diets out there and each of them are the same in most aspects. The major rule I noticed I had to follow with this particular diet was to not eat surrounding the time I planned to go to bed. I was supposed to allow a 12 hour or so period of time between dinner and breakfast. This was to promote fat burning.
The concept also made sense on other levels as well. If my thyroid or insulin were also off balance, I would definitely have issues with losing weight for sure. I was never one to eat before going to bed anyway, as I have heard that since you cannot burn it off it will just make you fatter.
The other rules are not too bad either. With leptin diets you need to be sure to eat three regular sized meals each day. Too large of a meal, and you can end up with insulin or leptin intolerance. My breakfasts are high in protein to give me what I needed for fuel, yet will not interfere with the leptin amounts from a high carb meal. The more carbs you eat the higher the chance your leptin will become out of balance and you will then begin to over eat.
Combine this with too much sugar and this is how eight is gained. I also weighed myself each night to be sure I had not eaten too many carbs. If I was more than 2 lbs over my morning weight, then I knew I consumed too many. I just kept a daily food log for a while to be sure I stayed under.
Over all I found leptin diets really work. I was losing weight at a normal rate and I felt better than ever. Now that I am feeling better I can rely on my body better to tell me when to stop eating. I do not eat now when I am not hungry and I also do not need as much junk food.
If you want a diet that really works to help regulate your hormones, try one of the many leptin diets out there. You will not regret it.
