Liquid Diets
Can You Really Drink Yourself Slim?

When I was looking into a new diet that could help me lose about ten pounds, I stumbled upon liquid diets. This sounded perfect for me, as I was not looking for anything long term and I only wanted to lose a bit of weight. I am very partial to juice and so this could really work for me.
All I have to do is drink tons of juice and I will then lose weight. It sounded easy enough. Unfortunately, I am not so sure that I can sustain myself on nothing but juice for days.
I decided to look into the diet further before actually trying it. I really could not find any positive information on this type of diet. Most doctors were saying to stay away from it and it said to not be on it more than one day.
I decided against my better judgment to try it out anyway. I went out, bought tons of juice, and started my cleansing. Most liquid diets are solely for cleansing and super fast weight loss.
All the juice I bought was fortified with vitamins and minerals, plus I was taking a daily multivitamin for extra nutrients. I was determined to stay on it till I lost 10 pounds. Little did I know how hard this diet would actually be to stay on.
Doing nothing but drinking your meals is not as easy as one would think. Not to mention, the more I drank, the more I had to visit the restroom. This did not make my day very productive. I also was very hungry despite filling up on juice. The only good news was I lost 3 pounds the first day alone.
By day 2 the idea of liquid diets made me ill to think about. I felt awful, yet was pleased with the fact I lost 6½ pounds. I decided I really had to eat something. This was the beginning of the end for me. Once I started eating there was no stopping me. I felt like I had been deprived food for weeks and my body was not satisfied with just a normal meal.
No matter what I ate, I was hungry just a few hours later at the most. This was going to be a problem for sure. I gained 5 pounds back by morning. The good news was I was not in the bathroom all day. Bad news was I was gaining weight fast, which made my 2-day torture worth nothing.
What I learned about liquid diets was that they do not work. All I accomplished was training my body to gain weight through starvation. This was not a good idea as I was now 7 pounds heavier than when I started.
I would not recommend these types of diet to anyone. Not even people like me who only need to lose a tiny bit of weight. You will do nothing but end up gaining more weight when you stop.
Next time I will just diet like normal people do, I am sure I will like the results much better.
