OptiFast Diet

How safe and effective is a meal replacement
program?
Review of the
OptiFast diet program. I wasn’t completely thrilled with the
idea of a diet that was almost completely liquid, but at the
same time I had tried many diets and was unable to achieve
success.
By the time I
began the OptiFast diet program, I was carrying an additional
75 pounds on my 5:6” frame and was unable to exercise or do
much else without becoming tired of out of breath.
I couldn’t
even walk with my kids to the park, and my husband was
threatening to leave if I didn’t do something. It wasn’t that
he was concerned for my weight, but he was concerned for my
health and didn’t want to stay and watch me eat myself into my
grave.
OptiFast is
not just a diet; it is a complete weight loss program that
includes monitoring by medical professionals. I wasn’t sure I
was going to be able to stay with the program for the duration
of my weight loss, but I needed something that would at least
give me a boost and set me on my way. I knew it wasn’t going to
be an easy decision, but I also knew my health depended upon
it.
I had reached
the point where just cleaning my house was a struggle and took
much longer than it had in the past. Going up and down the
stairs to do laundry was a real struggle and something that I
needed help accomplishing—that’s when I really began to look
for ways to lose weight.
The first
week was a real struggle—the adjustment from real food to meal
replacement was difficult. In addition, the OptiFast program
has a very low caloric intake, so I had to learn to live on
much less than what I had previously done.
For me that
meant taking advantage of the soups and menu bars that were
part of the program and drinking additional water in order to
ward off the hunger pangs. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be
able to continue with the program, but I was determined to try.
However, as I began to see results I made the decision to
follow through.
After I lost
the first twenty pounds, I knew that I had to stay with it no
matter how difficult it was. I became used to the meal
replacement, and even though it was difficult to cook for my
family while I ate nothing but the OptiFast meal replacements, I
knew it would be worth it in the end.
My weight
loss was steady, and I began to notice changes after I had lost
thirty pounds. My energy level began to return, and I was able
to do things that I had not been able to accomplish for a long
time. I was determined to stay with it until I lost the
seventy-five pounds I needed to lose no matter what sacrifices
I had to make.
It was not an
easy accomplishment by any means, and the most difficult part
was the transition back to real food and learning how much I
could eat without putting the weight back on.
I joined a
health club that my husband and I attend three times a week,
and I exercise regularly at home by walking or running around
with the kids. The Opti Fast diet program helped me regain
my life.
