Can the Peanut Butter Diet Really Be Used To Lose Weight?
When I first read that the Peanut Butter Diet was actually a
plan to lose weight, I truly thought this was not possible. While peanut butter is high
in protein and good for you, you cannot eat it on everything in every meal. This plan is
a very low calorie diet with meals using peanut butter.
All I could think of was eating nothing but peanut butter and jelly
sandwiches and peanut butter toast each day. I have seen plenty of fattening desserts
that include peanut butter, but not many low calorie meals. More than a diet, it is an excuse to try to popularize
a single food diet fad. The idea about the Peanut Butter Diet is that
most people do not eat it very often, so it sounds like a treat. When you actually take a closer look at how much
peanut butter you are really eating you will see it is only about 4-6 tablespoons per day. That is a peanut butter
and jelly sandwich and a few peanut butter crackers. In fact, that is the diet’s lunch and a mid afternoon
snack.
The other two meals are peanut butter free and simply low calories. You are
expected to eat no more than 1500 calories per day for women and 2200 for men. You better make time as well, as 45
minutes of aerobic exercise is expected each day. This does not sound like a diet built around peanut butter to
me.
The funny thing about the Peanut Butter Diet is that it
works. It has nothing to do with the peanut butter and everything to do with eating low calories, regular exercise,
and proper eating habits. When you eat smaller portions more often and get moderate exercise you will lose weight
and keep it off.
High protein diets have also been shown to keep the body satisfied longer and
are low in calories than high sugar foods. While the whole peanut butter hype is just a marketing tool, you can use
the diet’s meal plan as a way to lose the weight you want the right way.
The Peanut Butter Diet is a plan I would recommend.
You really do not have to focus on the name, or even like peanut butter at all to be on it. As long as you eat high
protein, small meals, less calories, and get plenty of exercise, you are accomplishing what the diet
wants.
The peanut butter is just a fun way to use a food you do not usually eat
everyday. The fun part about the diet is you get to snack on foods like peanut butter and celery, or
apples.
Not many of us would think to add that into our diet as a nice low calorie
and fulfilling snack. I say if you are trying to eat better, like peanut butter, and want a fun way to lose weight
and get healthy, than why not give this diet a try. You may find it is just right for you.
