Slim Fast

Review of the Slim Fast Weight Loss
Program
Review of the
Slim Fast diet program. Many people don’t have the self
discipline when it comes to weight loss or diet plan especially
when they have to cut back on some of the foods they eat,
especially when they are at work.
That’s the
problem I faced—I have a highly stressful job as a department
manager, and sometimes I don’t get an opportunity to leave my
office to eat. The day was hectic with meetings and managing
staff, so quite often my lunch consisted of cookies, crackers,
candy bars, or whatever staff members decided to order for the
day, which was usually hoagies, hamburgers, or other high
calorie, high fat foods. I never had a weight problem until my
promotion, so I became concerned when my clothes no longer fit
properly.
I had to find
a way to grab something quick while in the office without being
tempted by the fatty foods others were eating, so I decided to
try Slim Fast. It seemed easy enough—replace one or two meals a
day with a tasty shake or one of the packaged meals.
It seemed
easy enough to do, and I was able to buy ready prepared cans to
take to work, leaving the processed foods and powdered mix for
home. I only had about ten pounds to lose, so I was confident
it would only take me about a month until I returned to my
former slim figure.
The problem I
found with Slim Fast was that the shakes were not filling.
Instead of replacing meals with the shakes, I actually ended up
supplementing the shakes with things like crackers and popcorn.
I’m not a huge breakfast fan, so the shake for breakfast worked
well, but lunch was troublesome. Instead of losing weight, I
stayed at the same weight I was when I began. I didn’t gain any
weight, but that wasn’t the purpose of using the
product.
Even though I
ate a healthy dinner of baked or broiled fish or chicken with a
salad and vegetables as suggested by Slim Fast, I had no success. The
shakes were just not enough to fill me for lunch, and when I
did attempt to stay with only the shake, I was fatigued for the
rest of the day and began to experience migraine headaches. The
lack of solid food began to take its toll on me, and I began to
have trouble concentrating.
For me a diet
without solid food just wasn’t going to work, and though the
Slim Fast plan may work for some, it did not work for me.
Instead of relying on liquid meals, I need to have something
with substance, so I had to develop my own program of eating
for lunch, though I continued using the Slim Fast for
breakfast.
Perhaps in
that respect, you might say it worked for me, but since I had
to develop my own plan, I don’t feel I can honestly say the
Slim Fast diet plan worked for me.
Eventually I
gave up using it even for breakfast for the same reasons—lack
of substance. I switched to eating a bowl of sugar free cereal
with skim milk and a piece of fresh fruit.
Would I
recommend Slim Fast to other people? It may work for others,
and I won’t say that it doesn’t offer some measure of success.
However, for me, it was not the answer to my weight loss
needs.
