Sugar Busters Diet

Rid Your Body Of Sugar and Lose Weight

Sugar Busters diet

When I first came across the Sugar Busters Diet, I thought it was just another fad. I had heard about cutting carbs over and over again to lose weight.

The Sugar Busters diet takes carb counting to a whole new level. Not only are you not allowed refined sugar, you can barely eat anything that has carbohydrates in it. No only do I no longer get to enjoy a chocolate bar, I cannot have a glass of wine, or even a carrot.

This plan even cuts out carbs such as corn and potatoes that other diet allow you to eat. I was at a loss as to what I would now do for vegetables since corn and carrots were my main staple and now a no-no.

I was allowed to have sweet potato, oats, and some brown rice at least with the Sugar Busters Diet. Anything high fiber and hard to digest was acceptable. While I had heard that carbs could help you pack on the pounds, I never thought I would have to be this careful.

I was even giving up my beloved crackers and morning bagels to get thin. Any food that was high on the glycemic index was to be avoided. This really made sticking to this diet very hard. While I could eat many other foods, and a lot of them, they were not even remotely as satisfying. I found myself craving sugary foods often and had to try very hard to not binge.

The longer I was on Sugar Busters diet the more weight I lost, but the harder it was to stay on. I began to research and realized that it was the calories I was taking in and not really what I was eating. This diet was set at about 1200 calories per day. The diet was never tailored to my individual carbohydrate needs, nor did it take into account high levels of exercise when figuring out carb intake.

Basically you learn what is not okay to eat and learn to eat what is left. This keeps you from having to count calories and watch portion sizes too strictly. I found that I would have rather watched what I ate and how much, than give up all I love.

Over all, I do not recommend the Sugar Busters diet. It is very hard to stay on, although it is amazingly easy to follow. This diet can also be dangerous for those with blood sugar issues if you are not careful.

With all the hype on low carb diets all over the place, it is very easy to find a similar plan that tailors sugar intake on many factors for an individual, such as age, activity level, blood sugar needs, and personal metabolism.

While lowering the amount of refined sugar one ingests is highly suggested, as it lowers insulin levels, one does not need to give up healthy foods such as carrots, corn, or potatoes entirely.

If you want to lose weight, simply eat less junk, watch how much you eat, and exercise regularly. This will make you feel much better than giving up all the foods you once enjoyed forever.
