The Calorie Conspiracy
The calorie problems
The word calorie has become one of the most dreaded words in the world. No
one wants to admit they have to think about them. Moreover, no one wants to count them.
Unfortunately, if you want to stay trim and healthy, or lose weight, you must
do both. If you eat too many calories you can end up gaining too much weight. We hear and read about what foods to
avoid and which ones to eat.
Often we have no idea why some foods are not good, why others are bad, and
how come many are not rated. This because we trust the words “low fat” and “low cal” on the label rather than
actually looking to see if it really is or not. If you want to take control of your health and your waist, you want
to learn what and how much you can eat.
How To Know If You Are Getting Too Many
Calories Per Serving
One of the first things to learn when it comes to the almighty calorie is -
are you eating too many. There is a good chance that you are, even though you may not know it. Many foods tell you
that they are great to eat, as they are low in calories per serving. What they fail to tell you is, a serving is
one tablespoon and you have been eating 2 cups. This is the conspiracy behind calories.
We hate having to count them but if we are not aware it can cost us our
waistline. Every box, bag, and can of food or drink has a label on it that will tell you what is in it. You will
see what a serving size is and how many are in each package you are purchasing. You will want to be conscious of
what each food you eat and how much is actually a serving. You will learn fast which foods are higher in calories
with out even really having to count.
Low Calorie Foods
The true meaning of low calorie foods is that you
should be able to eat a normal portion and it has few actual calories. This is important, especially when dieting.
You want to be able to eat enough food to feel full without risking becoming over weight. Fruits and vegetables
offer dieters a good size snack that is low cal. When it comes to side dishes and main meals, this can be a bit
tricky.
Fish and foul are the best meats when they are skinless and boneless to
choose as a main coarse. They are lower in calories than red meats and yet very filling. High fiber rice and foods
are the best side dishes as you can eat more of them to get full.
If you learn about what your portions allow, you can either eat as little or
as much as you want. The right diet should not restrict you from your favorite foods, it should just teach you how
much of them you can eat at one time to stay healthy.
