Getting Slim And Healthy Without Meat

Vegetarian diet

A Vegetarian Diet is not too hard to accomplish today. If you know what you are willing to eat and how to choose the right foods you can easily lose weight and live healthy.

What types of foods to choose and whether you are getting all the proper vitamins and minerals is the key component to living as a vegetarian. I had no issues following this diet plan as soon as I chose if I was willing to eat any type of meat at all. The beauty of this type of diet is I had no set rules on how or what to eat.

If you decide to eat some meat, like chicken or fish, you will not have to supplement to get the right amount of protein and amino acids. Those who choose to cut out all animal products will need to be cautious about getting enough protein and other specific vitamins and minerals.

If you are choosing a full Vegetarian Diet you will want to be aware of a few things. The most common protein source in today’s diet is meat. It contains all the essential and nonessential amino acids we need to live.

A great source of protein that can be used to replace meat is soy. Soy has all you need in daily protein and amino acids. I found that there were several great recipes where soy can be used. Other sources of essential amino acids are legumes, seeds and nuts, and many leafy green vegetables.

These are also very reliable sources of Zinc, Calcium, and Iron. Other important vitamins to think about are the B vitamins. These are only found in animal sources, particularly B-12. Most vegetarians who do not eat any animal products will need to take a daily supplement in order to get enough Vitamin D, B-12, calcium, iron, and zinc.

I chose a Vegetarian Diet that still had some animal products in it, semi-vegetarian. I still ate fish and foul, drank dairy products, and ate eggs on occasion. I personally found this easier than having to worry too much about supplements.

I found this diet really easy to follow, as there are no strict rules about how to eat. By eating more high protein and fiber foods I found I stayed fuller longer and had no problems losing the extra weight I had put on. I ate three meals per day and had snacks in between.

I found snacks that consisted of fruit and nuts were the best. They satisfied my need for sugar, yet offered high protein as well to keep me satisfied longer. With in a few months I had noticed I had lost 12 pounds. I also found this diet very easy to stick to, as you really are not denying your body of anything it desires.

I fully recommend any type of Vegetarian Diet to anyone. While giving up all meat products is not for everyone, most can find a type of vegetarianism that can work for them.

Most people find that when they cut out high fat animal products they not only lose weight, but feel better too. This diet can also help you thwart off illnesses, such as cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol.
