What Massage Can Do For Your Health
Relax with a healthy massage
When most
people think of massage, they usually just think it feels good.
There is much more to the art than that. Massage is an art that
provides physical and emotional healing through touch. It
stimulates the circulatory system to allow the proper removal
of toxins and waist out of the body. This in turn creates an
emotional state of feeling better and improves one’s over all
health.
There are
several forms to choose from, when it comes to massage therapy.
The type you choose to go with will depend on where you hold
your stress, where your physical complaints are, and what your
threshold for pressure is.
What
Does Deep Tissue Massage Do For You
The art of
deep tissue massage is to
work thoroughly into the muscle tissue to remove toxins and
waste products built up by stress and physical exercise. With
exercise and stress, our muscles begin to tense up and lock in
waste products from daily functions. These products can build
up and get trapped, forming knots and calcium deposits in the
tissues. Releasing these deposits with vigorous and deep
rubbing, releases the clogged area into the blood stream where
it can be gotten rid of by the kidneys.
Not only does
this allow the body to heal the muscle tissue properly, it also
relaxes the body as a whole. This type of massage can be
painful if toxins and debris have built up over long periods of
time. It is not uncommon for more than one appointment to be
needed to fully work through large knots and areas.
Living With Shiatsu
One of the
most well known types of massage is shiatsu. Is technique uses
a combination of pressure points, deep tissue, and soft touch
to realign the body and reduce stress. It is probably the most
common type of massage people have done when visiting a
therapist. Shiatsu is used for a wide variety of reasons such
as, stress, promote a sense of calmness, disease prevention,
reduce blood pressure, and much more. Using light touch
techniques the therapist will get an idea where blocked and
high stress areas are. This light touch puts the body into a
more willing and relaxed state for deeper bodywork.
Once the body
is relaxed, the therapist will use pressure points to release
knots and tension to realign the body’s chi. When the pressure
points are released, deeper tissue type techniques are then
used to encourage blood flow into the area to remove the
waste.
Using
Reflexology For Better Living
Reflexology
is a form of massage that uses the hands and feet as a map to
the rest of the body. Instead of a therapist massaging the
entire body, which can be uncomfortable or time consuming for
some people, they will use the hands and feet as a guide. This
form of massage is great for releasing multiple areas that are
in need, using a smaller surface area.
Reflexology
can also stimulate organ systems that other types of massage
just cannot do such as, hormone function and regulation,
digestion, and other soft tissue areas that massage is just not
conducive with. Often this type of massage can be used at
home as well to promote further healing between
sessions.
